Will rollerblading help with my ice skating skills?

okay, so I'm not that good of a skater when i get on the ice. I play goalie, so \i'd want to get better at it. I can skate forwards pretty easily (but would want to get better), i can turn moderately well, but i can't really skate backwards. anyways, back to the original question, if i started rollerblading would i get better at skating?

Will rollerblading help with my ice skating skills?
Roller blades do not give you the proper balance required to skate on ice. However the motions are similar and at a beginner level it would most definitely help. I would suggest you roller blade and ice skate as often as possible. Once you master your balance and the proper motions needed to propel yourself you can concentrate on perfecting your turning radius' and speed through each maneuver.

Ultimate answer... Yes
Reply:Yes, absolutely. However - it would be best to limit rollerskating to summer and ice skating to winter - not too much of both at the same time because there are differences - but it will help.
Reply:roller blading actually messes up the feel of balance compared to ice skates; however, it really helps your stick handeling if u play hockey. My coach told me this, trust me, im a the AAA team
Reply:No not really. You can be good at roller blading and it wont help you ice skate, but you can be good at ice skating and it will help your roller blading.
Reply:yes
Reply:if skating gets expensive then its not a bad idea its all up to you whatever you like.
Reply:it works for me.

i always Rollerblade in the summer.
Reply:sure will were ankle weights
Reply:At the level you are describing, any time on skates would be time well spent. Ice and inline, do it all.
Reply:Yes, only make sure you learn to stop and go back rather than circling around
