Troll around the usfsa web site http://www.usfsa.org/ for some basic training videos. The first things you are looking for are "t-stop", "cross-overs", "slalom" and "waltz jump". Most tricks are done from skating backwards, including the spins, so it will take a while.

If you can get to the rink during lesson times (not public skating), you can arrange ahead for a lesson from someone your own age who has been studying for a long time. For $10 you can get a 20 minute private lesson, in most places.
Reply:go to the usfsa web site http://www.usfsa.org/ for some basic skating videos
Reply:the only way to get better at it is to pratice alot! it;s ok if u are 16 and your starting maybe get a coach!
Reply:uumm.. I dunno... Try swizzle, bracket, or sumthing else..

Go on a private lesson and ask ur coach about it.
Reply:Well, taking lessons is really the best way to learn if you can, but I know you said it's too far for you.

In the meantime, here is a link to "video lessons" you can watch. This guy covers glides, stops, stroking (forwards and backwards), swizzles, basic turns and spins.

Watching videos will give you an idea, but it's best to learn under the eye of a coach so they can make sure you're doing the moves correctly.

Hope that helps!
