How to get back in shape for ice skating?

I have skated for about 2 years then I broke my ankle and they are very weak I don't have the money for a personal trainer right now but I am a natural at it how can I get back into shape to ice skate again please help me

How to get back in shape for ice skating?
If you haven't gone back on the ice yet and you're cleared by the doctor to do whatever you want now, just go skate!! If you have good supporting skates, they should strap your ankle in pretty well, if that is a concern. Test yourself to see how your ankle feels and how you do on the ice. Give yourself some fair time . . . don't judge it by one session (first sessions are always hard after a big injury!). I think you'll know better where you stand after several sessions.





Ice skating itself is a work out (well you know that!) . . . so you can get in shape by skating to start off with. You might even build up you ankle muscles again too! Start from the beginning as far as skills go and work your way up to where you left off. Stroking, edges, crossovers, turns . . . jumps and spins can come when you feel comfortable trying them. Otherwise, I don't think you have to do too much for now . . . don't cram it all in once or you'll get too pooped and injure yourself (you don't want an ankle re-injury - that's for sure!). You can ease into off ice training, dance, jump roping, yoga, biking, etc etc . . . in time. If anything, eat right, get good sleep, and keep active (which skating would take care of - wink!). Go at your own pace as you get back on the ice - and enjoy what you've missed for a while.

Reply:well, see a doctor, and ask when that ankle will heel! thats the best you can do! then when it heels you will be able to get back on the ice!
