Tips for Basic Ice skating???
well, you should bend your knees, dont look at the ice, try to keep balance and the most important thing: dont be afraid to fall!!=D
Reply:i dont know

ice skating is lame
Reply:tight your skates really good you probably have them loose and start off slow
Reply:Start slow. Not trying to do anything fancy. Bend your knees and push (use an ice walker at first if needed). You might want to consider taking lessons. If you are embarrased about your age difference to the other people in the beginners class DON'T BE. I started aphla (one of the beginners levels) when i was in 7th grade. And now less than a year later i'm with girls my age in freestyle (the advanced levels)!! I'm so happy I started because its become a passion of mine! I encourage you to practice a little on your own at open skate and then sign up for lessons =]

Just practice practice practice and soon you won't be falling on your butt! Haha =D hope I helped!!

Good luck with your skating!

Reply:Bend your knees. You also want to take one stroke at a time and just glide. I am in figure skating and if you do some strength exercises on you ankles it will help also. Hell raises really helped me just look on line for how to do them. It will also take some time to learn how to skate. Try to do balancing exercises at home and also make sure your skates are tight enough. They should fit like a glove if they are too big it will affect your skating.
Reply:here's a link to an ice skating question i asked

hope it helps!
Reply:dnt fall
Reply:keep your knees bent and move your feet going faster maked keeping your balance easier
Reply:just relax and dont get nervous! remember to always bend your knees ( this will keep you in balance ) practice moving slowly first! just dont be afraid to fall! its a part of learning! dont mind the people around watching you, its okay to fall!

and remember this very important thing! HAVE FUN!!!
Reply:Push your legs out one at a time and glide and bend your legs so you can balance better. Your non-dominate (weak) leg should go out first and your strong leg should support it than follow through by switching your right to left, left to right, right to left, etc. Also stay away from the rails, staying away from it will actually help because if you keep on holding onto it, you won't learn.
