Ice skating, dress or not?

I ice skate every Thursday. I have dresses. I am a pretty good skater, but if i wear dresses does it make me look too "wanna be a skater"-ish? HELP!

Desperate

Ice skating, dress or not?
My wife, when she was younger, used to be a semi-professional skater and was in a number of shows.

One of her pet peeves was the way some girls/women dressed on the ice. She used to say that, when you wear a dress on the Ice... people EXPECT you to be good... so if you can't do more than bunny hops.., then better stick to the pants or tights.,

She was a wonderful skater and a good competitor and her pre-mature death was a loss to the skating world,.
Reply:I think you have to dress if you want to ice skate. There's not much you can do in public without wearing clothes.
Reply:no way! if your a good skater you shoul dress like one. the way i see it, it definetly wouldn't make you look that way.
Reply:Well do you want to be a Figure Skater??? Do you take lessons, or are you self taught??? Have you every taken a test for a Figure Skating dance??

Personal, coming from over 10 years of Figure Skating experience I say, if you want to wear the dress wear it.

The dress is part of the skating experience, and if you wear the right dress it can hide some of your in-perfections or enhance your skating ability. If you are worried about looking to 'wanna be a skater'-ish maybe you should look into wearing something else out on the ice.

Personal I'd wear short yoga pants over my tights, or a pair of bicycle shorts. You can't wear something that is too cumbersome or interferes with your ability to skate.
Reply:no your supposed too wear a dress in competion so if anyone asks say i need too get used too earing a skir t but in practice you can wear non baggey sweats
Reply:if you sakte every week and are pretty good...then go ahead and wear a dress. if people have a problem..ignore them. I am a former iceskater. it is MUCH easier to skate in something made for the sport.
Reply:I use to ice skate. Save the dress for competitions and testing, if you do. Sweatshirts and pants are fine
Reply:i dont think you should wear dresses. just wear them to compete. for practice, wear the things that um... gymnastists wear.... forgot what they call them
Reply:If u r a good ice skater than get a dress but only wear it to the rink and wear a cover up over top untill u get on the ice.
Reply:I'd say wear pants because wearing a dress might make your booty cold!!
Reply:Well I think wearing them would make you look too "wanna be a skater-ish" like you said (if you take lessons/skate competitively, then that's a bit different; wear the outfits - oh, and wear like a cheaper one for lessons %26amp; practice, save the nicer ones for competitions and tests). But it's up to you - if you feel more comfortable wearing the outfits, then wear them. If you don't feel comfortable wearing them, then don't.
Reply:no way, i think it's a good idea. whatever you want.
