Ice skating!!!!?

Whats the best way to get into ice skating?


I dont know anything but id like to get into it and maybe do competitions!!!

start out with group lessons as they are good for all ages and cater to all the levels. they will teach you the basic skills you need, and can lead into figure skating, ice hockey, which ever dicipline you decide to learn. sometimes there are little competitions within skate schools just to get you used to performing infront of others. its also nice to be skating with people at the same level as you and you can make lotsa friends :) as you get more confident and go up in the levels then you could think about getting private lessons. at some stage you will need to buy your own skates. i waited about 6 months and stuck with rentals (not fun i know) until i knew i would be continuing skating and bought some skates. dont buy skates as soon as you sign up cos you might not continue skating long enough to justify spending hundreds of dollars on skates...

Reply:You don't say if you can already skate or not. You would need lessons. If you want to do it professionally, you would need a coach, and that often means living elsewhere. It's quite expensive - you need a coach, a choreographer, costumes, etc. Often skaters receive support from the skating club in their region, so start there.
