Is ice skating hard?

I have the oppritunity of going on a field trip to an ice skating rink, but I've never been before [I live in southern california,so there aren't many rinks arond here].is it really hard? I can roller skate and skateboard really good so im wondering.be honest!

Is ice skating hard?
Ok. I'm from MN and I played hockey my whole life. That's all we do here! To be honest, skating is very, very hard. Of course you will be able to nudge slowly along the boards if you've never skated before...but to develope decent skating abilities...it's going to take time. Being good at rollerblading and skateboarding (even though they require balance) is not a true test of what it's like to be on ice. It's entirely different. It sounds as if this is just a field trip thing...and not something your going to do your whole life...so I'd say you'll be fine. And ifyour falling or whatever, just grab on to the guy you like or something. WE love that sort of thing!
Reply:no, not really.
Reply:Yes, it is hard. I took a lot of ice skating lessons when I was younger, then I stopped. But when I went back on the rink recently, I fell a bazillion times.

You really need to be careful and at first try to be near the wall and skate. It'll help. Once you get used to the feel of ice skating and keeping your balance, then you can journey to the center.

Roller skating and skate-boarding won't help much.
Reply:HEY!,

i am a hockey player so I know a thing or two about skating. yes at first it's a little tricky and you will probably be a little awkward on your skates. One thing you have to remember is it's alright to fall. It shouldn't hurt to bad if you fall and if your not worried about getting hurt then you won't be afraid to leave the comfort of the boards.HA HA. It also helps that you have been rollerblading before. That will help you understand the motion a bit more.

Anyway hope I helped!
Reply:If you have the opportunity to go, you definitely should! Especially if there aren't many rink around your hosue, it would be a good experience.

Don't worry, it's not really hard, within 30 minutes you should be able to skate kinda well without having to hold on to the side.

And roller skating actually should help! My brother is really good at both roller skating and skateboarding, and he had never gone skating before, but on his first time, he was really good! On his second time going, he could go really fast all around the rink, he's only 10!

So don't worry, it's really not that hard, just a little bit of time and you'll be great! You should go, you'll have fun!

Good luck!
