I'm thinking of retaking ice skating lessons. But I'm wondering, which of the two would give a better workout and show better results in weight loss. They seem almost the same so I'm really confused.
Would ice skating or rollerblading give a better workout?
Its all relative. For example If you were to skate at exactly the same speed for each of the forms then you will have to exert a greater force when using the roller blades, due to the lower friction of ice, and therefore roller blades would give better workout. However, in practice you would probably just skate faster on ice and therefore your net energy benefit would be lost and you would probably end up using the same amount of energy as for roller blading.
I would chose ice skating, it's more fun!
Reply:i think rollerblading would burn more calories. i've never seen a skating rink or frozen pond with hills. both use the same movements.
Reply:ice skating is a good choice...and its a fun sport too but you kan take rollerblading also so you kan have easier practice on floor than on ice..
after you practice with rollerblading you kan go o nice and itll be easy cuz you know how to do it..
Reply:Ice skating would be better for you. There is more tendency to try to keep your balance rather than rollerblading, and also you have to put into consideration the colder weather. The colder it is, the more calories you are burning to stay warmer and while you excersise. Good luck!
Reply:well i trick rollerblade and it is so much fun and i keep in shape especially because when you do all the jumping and riding the rails it works your stomach but also your thighs so i have gotting smaller thighs and i know have a very tight stomach but i also ice skate and other sports like softball and volleyball i also go to the gym i love sports all around you should just do both rollerblading and ice skating!!
Reply:Eh, they are basically the same thing, you'll burn nearly the same amount of calories. So, do whatever you like more.
Reply:I WOULD GUESS ROLLERBLADING..U HAVE TO DO ALOT MORE WORK THEN GLIDDING ACROSS THE ICE..
