im 11 and i never ice skated or rollerskated and my friends are kinda asking me to rollerskate im afraid ill get hurt or something ne tips
Is Ice Skating hard if u never rollerskated?
If you've never skated before, difficulty may depend on how agile you are. You just might surprise yourself!
I think rollerskaters (or inline/rollerblade skaters) can adapt to ice skating pretty well, but ice skaters will find it harder to rollerskate (or inline skate/rollerblade). Ice is definitely most forgiving - especially with falls as you can slide!
Remember to keep your knees bent (don't lock your knees straight). Look ahead of you - not down at your feet. Keep your arms in front of you at 10:10 or 2:50 (like a clock) to keep you balanced. Keep your body/arms steady - don't flap them around. Go slow - hang on to a wall at first if you need to. Take little steps until you feel comfortable enough to take bigger strides. Just focus on having fun!
Hope that helps!
Reply:in my own experience, ice skating is soooo much easier than rollerskating......
Reply:thats okay if you never ice skated, cuz ice skating doesn't have any affect on people who want to learn how to roller skate. cuz they are completely different, roller skating you do on the concrete or marble rink, ice skating you do on the ice with completely different techniques and moves, AND blades, not wheels!! personally i love ice skating wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy better, ice skating is my life!! and i take ice skating lessons with my own (still clean, and new) ice skates!! :) but usually when i see guys/boys trying to ice skate (not hockey, ICE SKATE!!, hockeys fine when it comes to boys) it gets kind of creepy, and it makes them look kind of girly no affense. anyway, with the roller skating thing, just have fun and take along somene you can trust to help you or hang on to! but in my point of view, i think that ice skating is actually the hardest sport i know (from my opinion!)! good luck!
Reply:Really I think roller and ice skating are very different. I can figure skate, but I can't roller skate. Even though you are afraid of getting hurt just wear a helmet, knee pads, and elbow pads and just give it a try. Use your arms for balance and just go try skating around, don't do anything tricky until you get better at skating. Good luck
Reply:Give it a try, you have to start sometime. Having friends to do it with helps, much metter than starting out alone.
Reply:Rollerskating is harder in my opinion...Go ice skating with your friends...or roller skating...whatever you think...you'll never know if you don't try!
Reply:I started skating without knowing how to rollerblade. Actually i learned how to rollerblade AFTER I began sktaing. So, there is no problem with not knowing how to rollerblade.
Reply:rollarskating or ice skating? well, ive done both and inline skating so their all pretty easy. but just remember to keepur knees slightly bent
