Phsyics of ice skating!! PLZ HELP?

I have to do a physics project about the physics of ice skating...i have to be able to conduct an experiment with graphical data blah blah blah...i think i wanna do something about the friction between the blade and the ice but its virtually none....i could do something detailing how the shape of the blade makes the friction less but i dont know what kind of experiment i could do to prove that...........i really need help

Reply:u could do the project on aerodynamics. like when figure sk8ers jump. it would b really cool too if you did something about like the friction of spins of stops in skating. if you try skating for once, it might also help

Reply:how about the effect that arm or free leg position has on a spin? works well with upright spins. i know some people who did this and got first in the class...





count the number of rotations in spins where the skater has their arms out, in, free leg down, out to the side, looking different ways (up, down, sideways), etc etc... . make sure each spin in the same lenght of time to make it as fairer test as possible, and repeat each spin a few times to get the average result.

Reply:One thing about the blades. Blades have a very slight radius (it depends on how you get them sharpened) so there are two edges - outside and inside. the outside edges are on the outside of the blade - away from your feet , and vice versa for the inside.

Reply:keep an ice cube on a balanced piece of wood,horizontally in equilibrium. poor some water on the board to keep the ice moving. chart the movement in inches per second and direction.
