The real question is...do you really want to learn? If you're interested in something you'd be surprised at the many things you can learn even at age 100. I'm at the moment learning to ice skate at 32 because I want to play ice hockey and I'm so excited at the thought that it's helping my ice skating. I want to be very good to try out for a local popular la woman's team and I know I'll be on that team unless they stop playing any more games.

Anyway I'm learning at the Artesia Ice Place http://www.artesiaicepalace.com/ on Saturday Mornings (8 lessons $115 - must complete in 10 weeks). It's ongoing and you can start anytime and you get free public ice time later that evening. To get you motivated... Michelle Kwan trained there? I don't care it just seemed to have really nice ice(soft ice(hardest to learn on and great for figure skaters), their rental skates are great for me to practice in till I get my own (they have a great pro shop and you get help with maintaining your skates) and you get individual lessons.

Others I've seen while looking:

Culver Ice Arena

classes begin march 26th

Also check the community section in the lakings.com site for local rinks. Call the ones in your immediate area and see if they're offering lessons. Good Luck and most important have a willing attitude, be open to learn and practice like a MOFO. :) Note: After you learn the basics, your coach or new skate mates will be the best way to find a coach to take you further as you progress. Also keep in mind it's expensive...maybe you can get a part time job at the rink to get free ice time to practice.
Reply:You are never too old to follow your dreams!! I started playing keyboard when I was 33! I would think that you could call your local ice rink and see if they know of anyone who teaches...I would assume they would hold classes there, so that would be the place to start.
Reply:No, ice skating is a fun form of excersise and should be encouraged to kids and young asults
Reply:your never to old to learn how to skate but i dont no about schools or if your to old to get into the figure skating.

good luck
Reply:No you're never too old , but unfortunatly i dunno where you can find a school in LA
Reply:You can definitely start! There are adult competitions you can go into. There are most likely tons of clubs in LA just go on to google and type in "ice figure skating clubs in Los Angeles" and a bunch of clubs will come up. Hope you will be able to join!
Reply:my name is fuaad i was born in 1989 i am from ethiopia i study in china in sex years but know i came back my country to study unviersity! if you can use skype we can chat better then mail
Reply:Dont know about the school, but you are not too old to learn how to figure skate. Your odds of competing at a high level are very very remote. But, for sheer enjoyment do it and devote your time to doing your best.
